Sponsored Walk, Palm Sunday 2007
On Sunday, 1st April 2007 - Palm Sunday - after Mass we held a Sponsored Walk to support our Lenten Campaign. The money raised went towards Kalinga Escalante, a house-building project in The Philippines. In addition tools had been collected in the preceding few weeks and these were joined with a similar collection made by the Emmaus parish, near Zuiderpark, and then donated to 'Gered Gereedschap'. This is a Dutch charity which ships tools (repaired as necessary) to projects in the developing world. A consignment was to be sent to the project in The Philippines. During Lent Children's Liturgy (with a little help) built their version of one of the houses we were working towards - you can see a photo of it at the end of this series.
